OUR TEACHERS

Our group is a real community, with all our teachers learning and developing their capoeira in Sheffield under the aegis of Contra Mestre Tatanka (Italy) and Mestre Papa-Leguas (Manchester).

PROFESSOR NINJA

Our highest level teacher, Keith, started capoeira in 2004 in his first year at university. Ever since then, he has been captivated by the culture, community and physicality of capoeira.

"I like exploring the endless possibilities within capoeira and enjoy the surprise of learning new ideas and movements. Most of all, I love seeing our students progress and enjoying capoeira, something that I learnt from my teacher - Contra-Mestre Tatanka."

INSTRUCTOR PELE

Devon started training in Sheffield in 2005 under Mestre Papa Leguas and Contra-Mestre Tatanka. He is currently leading the conditioning and fitness classes.

"From my first class I was hooked by the music, the movements, the culture and the friendships, some of which have lasted to today. I'm now one of the Sheffield teachers, and continues to be fascinated by capoeira and all of the lessons it has left for me."

INSTRUCTORA PATROA

Jo has been training and playing capoeira in Sheffield since 2006 and has been part of the teaching team since 2013. Now she teaches adult classes and runs the family and children's capoeira group.

"Capoeira has improved me by providing constant challenge, focus, variety and friendship. It’s something that always inspires me and it’s hard to stop me talking about it when I get started!"

MONITOR GREG

Greg has trained capoeira for many years, choosing to move groups formally in 2018. He is currently teaching the beginner programme.

"Capoeira has been a massive part of my life since 1999, when I went to my first class at uni. Since then, I've had the great fortune to keep learning, and improving, and now I get to share my great passion with my friends. The community, richness and complexity are like nothing else and being able to help others on their Capoeira journey is a genuine privilege."
